Meridian Fence Stain & Seal

We searched long and hard to bring Idaho the best possible stain available in the market today. Our vast searches lead us to Mansfield Texas where Standard Paints, Inc. developed a stain called Wood Defender® that far surpasses any other product around. Our stain does not require any type of back brushing and will not show drips or runs. Because our stain does not stick to most non-porous surfaces it allows us to stain in any situation without the worry of overspray.

We offer a Semi-Transparent Fence Stain which is a unique product utilizing opaque pigments that offer unparalleled ultra-violet protection while still allowing wood grain to be visible. We also carry a Transparent Fence Stain which is a customized formula designed with finely ground trans-oxide pigments allowing all wood grain to be visible while also providing excellent U.V. protection. Last but not least we offer a Transparent Deck Stain which is a specialized blend of natural oils coupled with silicone to provide superior protection on horizontal surfaces. By saturating the surface of the lumber, the Wood Defender® product penetrates into the substrate leaving the fence with an even, uniform coating.

Tips For DIY’ers

Cedar fence always look fantastic for the first couple of years but when that gray stuff starts to show up and eventually turns black, that’s when you may have some doubts about your choice of fence. The longer it goes untreated the uglier and less appealing it gets. It’s unfortunate that builders don’t forewarn homeowners about this fact before the deal is signed on your home. At this point you have two options usually to choose from. The first option is usually the most expensive which requires replacing the fence with a more permanent style. The second option is staining your fence so that it will last. If you decide to stain your fence below are a few ways we can help you with.

Staining
When you decide to stain you are taking a pro active approach to protect the natural oils and fibers in your wood. By staining every 3-5 years you will be able to prolong the eventual replacing of your wood for many years to come. Power Washing
Power washing is only needed if your fence has previously been stained or painted and needs to be redone. Before you can re-stain that type of fence you must power wash off all of the old stain or paint. Although power washing can damage some of your fence it is the only way you are able remove the old and put on the new.

Cleaning
Before applying a stain, it is important to prepare the wood surface for acceptance of the product. Most people don’t realize that the gray on the fence is a mildew and staining on top of it only makes things worst. Many home owners think that power washing is the only way to remove the gray from the fence, but power washing is hard on the wood and can possibly damage it. In this instance we recommend using our cleanser to kill all the harmful agents inside your wood and help bring it back to its original state.
